Enclos Publishes “Resilience and the Building Facade”

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Series aims at defining resilience considerations specific to the building skin.

EAGAN, MN – March 26, 2014 – Enclos is proud to announce the release of “Resilience and the Building Facade,” an ongoing publication series in coordination with the Facades+ conference. Each publication will facilitate a dialogue about the topic of resilience, its meaning, and its application to the design and implementation of building skins. The series will be developed throughout 2014 in conjunction with Facades+ conference stops in New York City (April 24-25), Chicago (July 24-25) and Dallas (October 30-31).

“Resilience has been widely referred to as “the new green” and “successor of sustainability,” says author Mic Patterson, vice president of strategic development at Enclos. “But what does resilience signify with respect to specific building systems, like the building skin? I want to explore the roots of the term, its appropriation by other disciplines, its relationship to sustainability, and finally, its significance to the building facade.”

Patterson, LEED AP [BD+C], has made a career study of building facades, participating in the design, fabrication and installation of a remarkably diverse body of novel applications. He has taught, written extensively and lectured on diverse aspects of advanced facade technology. He is the author of "Structural Glass Facades & Enclosures” published by Wiley in 2011.
