International Conference on the Architectural and Structural Application of Glass

Thursday, June 9, 2016

On Thursday, June 16th, Enclos senior design engineer Austin Bensend, PE, SE, and technical project manager Brian Rogers, Associate AIA, will speak at Challenging Glass in Ghent, Belgium. The bi-annual conference gathers international designers, engineers, researchers and industry partners to discuss architectural and structural glass.

On Thursday, Rogers will present Laser Tracking Metrology: An Integrated Fabrication Process for Geometrically Complex Facade Systems in the Architectural Design, Geometries and Lighting track. The talk will discuss the manufacturing and delivery of geometrically complex projects, including Via 57 West in New York, which features a unitized 110,000 square foot double curved stainless steel slope wall.

On Friday morning, Bensend will present Maximizing the Twist of Cold Formed Glazing in the Curved and Bent Glass track. The lecture will include insights into Enclos’ R&D initiatives, and applications in projects such as the Cobo Center in Detroit, whose freeform curved structure uses cold-bent glazing to create a smooth, transparent surface.

The Challenging Glass Conference 5 proceedings are available here. We hope you will join Enclos and other world-class designers, engineers, researchers and industry partners on June 16th.
