FACADES 2010 recap | 2011 dates announced

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

FACADES 2010 was hosted by the University of Southern California School of Architecture on November 19th and 20th. In spite of rain and foul weather, the conference was a resounding success by all accounts. Over 70 participants, including a mix of architects, educators, students and trade professionals alike attended the event.

More than a dozen speakers from leading institutions, industry groups, and professional organizations provided a diverse range of technical content related to the building façade. Thom Mayne, FAIA, Founder and Principal at Morphosis Architects, capped off the event as a keynote speaker — only hours off a plane from China — and delivered an insightful, thought provoking lecture that was enthusiastically received by conference attendees. Additional noteworthy speakers included David C. Martin, FAIA, Design Principal & Co-Chairman at AC Martin Partners, Scott Johnson, FAIA, Design Partner at Johnson Fain, and Duane McLeod, Director of Architecture at Walt Disney Imagineering. A full list of speakers and sponsors that contributed to the success of this event can be seen here.
