Description
Enclos is providing Phase I Preconstruction & Engineering and Phase II Construction services for this $1.6 billion medical campus
|
UCSF Medical Center has historically served as home to several national medical landmarks, including recognition as one of the highest-ranked children’s hospitals, one of the largest Comprehensive Cancer Centers, and one of the original centers for women’s health. With increased inpatient and outpatient demand, a new multidisciplinary campus is scheduled to open in 2014 that combines these three specialties into a single state of the art campus.
The new three building campus at Mission Bay stretches across 14.5-acres, situated just south of the existing UCSF biomedical campus. The new facility will expand in terms of both volume and patient facilities while complying with increased earthquake safety standards mandated by the State of California. The integrated complex consists of 289-beds to serve children, women and cancer patients within the 878,000 square foot campus.
Enclos is providing preconstruction services as part of Phase 1. Our in-house engineers deliver shop drawings and structural calculations required for OSHPD submissions, while Enclos BIM technicians contribute 3-D models of the building complex to improve project quality, lower costs and maximize schedule efficiency. The Firm's project scope includes the Women’s & Children’s Hospital building (204,000 square feet of facade area), Outpatient building (123,000 square feet of facade area), and the Energy Center building (68,000 sqft of facade area). Total façade area for the complex measures 395,000 square feet. Custom project designs include seismic and acoustic requirements, sun shading, large special glass, glass fins, operable windows, shadowbox and stainless steel. In addition, Enclos will conduct mockups and testing of system designs.
Through a series of green practices, the project aims at obtaining LEED gold certification. Facade contributions to the green agenda include patient rooms that maximize daylighting as a design element, while incorporating glass sunshades and louvers as a control element.
