Description
The New Wishard Hospital will replace the aging facilities of one of Indianapolis' oldest hospitals
|
Indianapolis is the home of Wishard Memorial Hospital, which serves all of central Indiana. A referendum in 2009 was approved by an overwhelming 85% of voters, paving the way for the construction of a new facility to replace outdated building facilities.
The New Wishard intends to be among the nation's most environmentally responsible health care facilities, and is designed to LEED Silver standards. Enclos has been involved with numerous LEED certified buildings, and embraces sustainable practices by hiring local union labor, product, and service buyouts from local providers whenever possible.
“In addition to participating in the construction of a top-quality hospital, we look forward to working with city leaders to make a positive contribution to the community, as we have done in other communities in which we have worked,” says Adam Peine, general manager, who is responsible for running the project for Enclos.
There are over a dozen different wall systems and facade elements that make up the enclosure system, including multiple curtain wall systems, rain screen metal panels, structural precast panels and louvers. Wall systems include more than 20 different kinds of glass, with performance requirements ranging from solar control to bullet resistance.
The $754 million New Wishard Hospital is expected to be completed in 2013. |
