Description
This healthcare landmark — formally known as Cook County Hospital — replaces the old Cook County Hospital's 13-building campus that was the first public hospital in the nation
|
Cook County Hospital had been caring for Chicago’s metro citizens since 1912 as the oldest hospital in the United States. The new John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital replaces Cook County Hospital's 13-building campus and provides the Chicago area with cutting edge medical technologies. With 464 patient beds and a comprehensive outpatient and treatment facility, the new structure heightens the Windy City’s medical infrastructure with enhanced functionality as a function of building design.
The Enclos team assumed contractual responsibilities for this project as part of an acquisition transition plan. Always a challenging proposition, Enclos instilled a seamless transition by engaging and utilizing the existing materials, products, primary fabricators and lower tier subcontractors that had previously been part of the original facade deliver strategy. It is this flexibility, resulting from deep and diverse capabilities, that has been the primary factor in the success of Enclos dealing with fulfillment services on disrupted curtainwall contracts.
Curtainwall system design, engineering, testing, and fabrication were all provided by the original facade contractor. Enclos utilized key material suppliers and fabricators from the original delivery team as appropriate to assure on-time completion of the facade.
