This complex combines both government and commercial office facilities, and was designed to harmonize with the surrounding Brooklyn cityscape

Brooklyn’s courts are celebrating a consolidated, contemporary building complex that embraces the nature and requirements of the business conducted within. Government and related services are now more readily accessible to residents under one centralized roof. The $670 million structure houses over a dozen state and city agencies, with the New York Supreme Court and the Kings County Family Court alone combining for over 80 court and hearing rooms.
Approximately 170,000 square feet of commercial office space complete the buildings top five floors. Enclos provided design/build services on nearly 270,000 square feet of custom unitized curtainwall. The facade is comprised of a contemporary blend of green glass, stone and brick: materials that allow the building to blend harmoniously with its surroundings. The curtainwall features an integrated louver system, and spandrel areas with a deep shadow-box design. As it has done with many other government and public buildings, the Enclos engineering team was required to design the curtainwall systems in conformance with demanding specifications for blast resistance.
330 Jay presented yet another highly constrained urban building site for the Enclos operations team. Performance on the building site is one of the most commonly expressed reasons for favoring the involvement of Enclos on a building project. The firm understands that the building site represents the greatest opportunity for saving time and money. Material delivery sequencing and the use of an efficient monorails system to set the units provided the formula for success on this project.
Upon its completion, 330 Jay Street became the largest courthouse in the state of New York. |
