ENCLOS UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE
Comprehensive New Site Intended as a Primary Resource to AEC Industry
LOS ANGELES, CA – July 8, 2010 - Enclos has unveiled a comprehensive new website at http://www.enclos.com intended to act as a primary resource for the AEC industry with respect to the building skin. The July rollout of the website is the first step in a multi-phased web development program in which increasing layers of content will be added as resource material for the firm's clients: architects, building owners, property developers, general contractors, and others with a stake in the building facade.
“This is not merely an online brochure,” says Mic Patterson, Director of Strategic Development for the firm, “Our website is now a dynamic, content-rich Web location, with new materials being added on an almost daily basis.” The new site features Enclos’ core service and technology offerings, which include curtainwall systems and structural glass facades. The site explores the materials, processes and techniques the firm employs in implementing its advanced façade technology. Website pages discuss façade security, acoustical performance, sustainability, and AESS steel fabrication. A searchable database of over 150 projects will grow to include nearly every project completed by the firm in its 64-year history, including many landmark projects and a progression of the “world’s tallest” buildings. Images and descriptive text are included. “The Library is another feature we are excited about,” says Patterson. “It is intended to grow over time with technical content including relevant image, video and document assets derived from both internal and external sources.” Future plans include a series of AIA continuing education courses related to various aspects of the building façade that architects will be able to complete online.
The new website is part of a major initiative launched by the firm in 2010, including an ambitious marketing and R&D program intended to further the state of the art in advanced facade technology. The program is driven by the escalating aesthetic and performance demands on the building skin. Architects are facing an increasingly complex array of decisions with respect to the building façade: just the decision matrix with respect to glass variations, a ubiquitous material in the building façade, numbers at close to one million according to one industry source. The Enclos initiative includes the recent launch of the Advanced Technology Studio, a façade think-tank in downtown Los Angeles, with the goal of both developing advanced facade technology solutions and assisting architects and builders in their application.
Enclos – providing the visible difference in the building skin – is a leading facade technology firm, providing comprehensive design, engineering and strategic implementation services for custom facades and curtainwall cladding systems. With over 350 people and 16 office locations, the firm self-performs a spectrum of services and manages a sophisticated global supply chain, a strategy that optimizes capacity, quality and economy for its diverse client base. Enclos is consistently ranked as a leading facade contractor in national industry surveys. Enclos has been a leader in facade system development since the advent of contemporary curtainwall systems in the mid twentieth century. Many of the most prominent buildings in the world’s great cities showcase Enclos’ innovative approach to engineering and construction. www.enclos.com

ENCLOS RECEIVES COMMENDATION FROM CITY OF LOS ANGELES
Mayor Commends Minority Participation and Local Hiring Programs
LOS ANGELES, CA - July 8, 2010 - Enclos has received a letter from Los Angles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa praising the firm’s work on the hotels and conference center at L.A. Live, and commending its inclusionary employment and subcontracting programs. The mixed-use complex opened in early 2010, and features a 55-story tower rising from the midst of the low and midrise buildings centered around LA’s Staples Center and the Nokia Theater. The complex, with its abundance of large format LED displays, is often referred to as the Times Square of the West. Enclos was responsible for cladding the all-glass tower that was designed by the Los Angeles office of architect Gensler. The facade systems include over a half-million square feet of custom curtain wall and 34 different types of glass. Highly transparent structural glass facades enclose the tower lobby, and feature point-fixed glass. See the project in detail here.
Mayor Villaraigosa comments, “Your work at the hotel, conference center & cinemas of L.A. LIVE has built outstanding structures that have enhanced the landscape and skyline of our great city, and you used this building opportunity to enhance the lives of local residents who proudly participated in the construction of these projects.” The facade systems were assembled at a nearby Enclos manufacturing facility and delivered to the building site on a just-in-time delivery schedule, where they were lifted from a small staging area and attached to the building structure.
The firm prides itself on its innovative hiring and procurement practices. “We are proud to support the minority hiring goals of the city,” says Dan Green, General Manager for the western region of Enclos’ operations. “We work hard to support the communities where we work, not just in Los Angeles but across the country.” The firm’s inclusionary minority, local hiring and subcontracting practices also played a pivotal role in Enclos receiving the contract for the Wishard Hospital project in Indianapolis. Read more about Wishard here.
Enclos is a global facade design-build firm with a strong presence in the Los Angeles and Southern California area, including a manufacturing plant in Pomona and offices in Los Angeles, San Clemente and San Diego. Core service and technology offerings include custom curtainwall systems and structural glass facades. The firm recently launched the Advanced Technology Studio, a facade think-tank located in downtown Los Angeles, with the goal of developing advanced facade technology solutions and assisting architects and builders in their application.

ENCLOS DEBUTES NATION’S STRONGEST COMMERCIAL CURTAINWALL WINDOW SYSTEM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ENCLOS DEBUTES NATION’S STRONGEST COMMERCIAL CURTAINWALL WINDOW SYSTEM
1450 Brickell Avenue will open with the latest in hurricane resistant technologies
EAGAN, MN – May 26, 2009 – Miami-Dade County has been repeatedly damaged by hurricanes sweeping the eastern coast since the early 90’s, and at the forefront of these damages have been the glass facades of the county’s building structures. While the Southeastern tip of Florida has to plan on nature repeating itself, the 35 story “class-A” tower at 1450 Brickell Avenue is set to break Mother Nature’s destructive pattern. Enclos Corp, the construction marketplace’s leading facade contractor in North America, designed and engineered 1450 Brickell to withstand the wind, rain and debris of Southeastern Florida’s worst. Hurricane Andrew for example — now the second costliest natural disaster in US history — havocked Miami-Dade County in 1992 with more than $25 million in damages from 155mph wind speeds. Enclos engineered and constructed 1450 Brickell’s curtainwall with a top-to-bottom large missile impact glass shell to thwart equal and greater wind speeds.
After conducting one of the most rigorous sets of glass testing in the United States, 1450 Brickell’s building shell will be amongst the strongest commercial buildings in the nation. Sequenced lab testing included extreme static water, dynamic water, air flow, and impact testing to confirm Enclos’ industry leading facade standards. The facade system surpassed each testing sequence and will be on display at the tower’s opening in early 2010. It is the first building to meet such high wind resistance standards in Miami-Dade County.
1450 Brickell’s curtainwall consists of dual pane glass that utilizes the latest in glazing technologies. A polyvinyl butryal triple-layer core and polyethylene terephthalate film between the panes increase the glass shell’s physical attributes. But Enclos’ building skin does more than increase occupant security in the event of a storm. The layer and film also double to improve energy efficiency, acoustic properties, and solar gain. With the addition of a Low-E coating on the glass laminate, solar performance is increased by an additional 25%. Having met 1450 Brickell’s safety and security concerns, Enclos designs allotted for a system that lent itself to becoming the first and only office tower in Miami to earn the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Gold pre-certification.
1450 Brickell Avenue is a 35-story, 586,00 square foot “class A” office in downtown Miami. Typical floor plates span from 24,000 square feet to 25,600 square feet, offering sprawling views of downtown Miami and the Biscayne Bay. 10,000 square feet of ground level retail space complete the tower at its base. View the complete project profile here.
