ENCLOS RECEIVES COMMENDATION FROM CITY OF LOS ANGELES

Mayor Commends Minority Participation and Local Hiring Programs

LOS ANGELES, CA - July 8, 2010 - Enclos has received a letter from Los Angles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa praising the firm’s work on the hotels and conference center at L.A. Live, and commending its inclusionary employment and subcontracting programs. The mixed-use complex opened in early 2010, and features a 55-story tower rising from the midst of the low and midrise buildings centered around LA’s Staples Center and the Nokia Theater. The complex, with its abundance of large format LED displays, is often referred to as the Times Square of the West. Enclos was responsible for cladding the all-glass tower that was designed by the Los Angeles office of architect Gensler. The facade systems include over a half-million square feet of custom curtain wall and 34 different types of glass. Highly transparent structural glass facades enclose the tower lobby, and feature point-fixed glass. See the project in detail here.

Mayor Villaraigosa comments, “Your work at the hotel, conference center & cinemas of L.A. LIVE has built outstanding structures that have enhanced the landscape and skyline of our great city, and you used this building opportunity to enhance the lives of local residents who proudly participated in the construction of these projects.” The facade systems were assembled at a nearby Enclos manufacturing facility and delivered to the building site on a just-in-time delivery schedule, where they were lifted from a small staging area and attached to the building structure.

The firm prides itself on its innovative hiring and procurement practices. “We are proud to support the minority hiring goals of the city,” says Dan Green, General Manager for the western region of Enclos’ operations. “We work hard to support the communities where we work, not just in Los Angeles but across the country.” The firm’s inclusionary minority, local hiring and subcontracting practices also played a pivotal role in Enclos receiving the contract for the Wishard Hospital project in Indianapolis.
